Setting up BetaMatch on your computer

After installation when you start BetaMatch for the first time you may have to Download, install and select component series and you may also have to install a license file (see below).

Installing BetaMatch

Installing BetaMatch is straightforward. First download the BetaMatch installer from the Download Page, secondly run the installer.

The installation procedure follows the standard way of installing software under windows (accept license, choose installation directory etc).

Note

Close all running instances of BetaMatch before you run the installer. If BetaMatch is running the new installation will fail.

Before the installation can take place any old versions of BetaMatch must be uninstalled. This will be done by the new installation and the user will be prompted to agree to this before any uninstallation is done.

Getting Help

The main documentation is this online documentation that you are viewing now. You can open it by entering http://www.mnw-scan.com/contents.html in your browser or from inside BetaMatch by selecting Help Menu –> Open online documentation...

There are also a set of assorted BetaMatch tips. These tips will be shown in sequential order and the position will be remembered between runs.

By default the BetaMatch tips will be shown when BetaMatch is started. To change this untick the box at the bottom of the tip window or change the setting in general tab in Tools Menu –> Options...

The tips can also be viewed anytime from Help Menu –> BetaMatch Tips...

Installing a License File

Once you have obtained a license file it needs to be installed before the software will recognize it. To install the license follow the steps below:

  1. Save the license file to a location where you can find it (e.g. ‘desktop’). If you got a zipped version first unzip it.
  2. Start BetaMatch. Click and drag the license file and drop it anywhere on the BetaMatch application. You will be asked if you want to change the license:

If this is the correct file simply click ‘Yes’ to install the license.

Note

Instead of dragging and dropping the license file you can also open ‘Load license file...’ from the ‘Help’ menu (see figure)

In the ‘Open File Dialog’ locate and select your license file. Press ‘Open’ to complete the installation.
  1. Done! If everything went well you should now get a message saying that the license has been changed.

  1. You can get information about the currently installed license in the about box (‘Help’ menu -> ‘About...’).

  1. If the information is correct you can delete your original license file if you wish. BetaMatch makes an internal copy and the original license file is no longer needed.

Note: Contact support@mnw-scan.com if your license is not recognized, the entries in the about box are wrong or if there are any other problems with your license.

Uninstalling BetaMatch

There are two ways to uninstall BetaMatch:

  1. Via uninstall programs in the Control Panel. This is the same as you would uninstall any program.
  2. Under All Programs –> BetaMatch select Uninstall BetaMatch.

Note

When BetaMatch is started for the first time a directory called BetaMatch will be created in the users application data path. This directory is used to save installation specific information (license, log-file, component library, user preferences etc). The uninstaller will not remove this directory. For a complete uninstall you can remove this directory manually. The path is the same as the path given to the log file in the About box.
